Palmyra, NY

Here are a few pictures from our little trip upstate to the birthplace of Joseph Smith with my sister, Natasja and her hubby, Don.

We spotted Jay's cousin, Erin, who is a missionary here for 18 months.

With Erin above. Jay wanted to scandalize the senior sisters and give her a hug, but she cut him off with a handshake. She looks great, right?

Palmyra Temple and printing press where the Book of Mormon was first printed.

Palmyra is a small place, but it has a great ice cream spot, as suggested by Erin. These are "kiddie" size... you would be amazed at the "large" cone.

Every July, there is a pageant about the Book of Mormon that starts at dusk. Families volunteer for 2 weeks to come and act out scenes dressed in costumes even Sonja would like.

Nat ans Don saved our seats while we checked the area out.

The people sitting right behind us were locals who come every year. They were also, how do you say it these days... "simple" people who would shout out excitedly what was going to happen next as they munched on their popcorn. It was distracting, but pretty funny.

Good thing I already knew the ending.

I can now check this off my Life List.
