Week in Review

Well this last week has been a little crazy.  Through many doctor visits and a stay in the hospital, Jay has finally been unofficially diagnosed with Mono.  It is actually the best sickness out of the few they feared he had.  And now Emmilene can finally be held again by her father, although he is a little hairier than she may remember.

Emmi had her first bath this last week as her last connection to mom finally fell off.  She didn't seem to mind it too much.

We also finally went to church, at least a part of it.  I washed her hair right before we left, and it stuck straight up.  Nothing I could do would convince it to come down.  Will this be her new style?
A little smile...

Church made her tired, as it did her father, so we came home to a nap.

Well, I guess it isn't too exciting at three weeks of life.

Happy Canada Day, Jay!

Happy Two Weeks!!

On Friday, Emmilene turned two weeks old!  How time flies!  She celebrated by taking a walk in central park with mom and Grandma.  It was a beautiful day.

One site she wanted to visit was the Egyptian Obelisk, mostly because she has heard stories of how her parents saw all three of Cleopatras Needles in one week (the other two are in London and Paris).  She was very impresed...

We surprised Emmilene that night with a little New York Cheesecake from Juniors.  She didn't have any then, but she will get some soon...

This is just a random video because it seems her cousins have a lot of videos lately on their blogs:

Thanks Grandma Nelson for all your help!!

To the Left, To the Left

You may have noticed our little Emmilene favors her head on her left side.

We are doing little exercises to help her give equal time to the right.  You can see from below that she is motivated to work hard to get back to the left.

Not the Happiest Father's Day...

Well...we have been a little slack in our blogging, mostly because Emmilene's daddy has been sick since last thursday.  He's had fever and chills, and has had to try to avoid his pretty little girl for days.  So Jay's first Father's Day was spent in bed and in the ER.  He didn't get to enjoy his favorite meals that Emmilene and I planned to make for him.

Thankfully he seems to be on the mend, and we hope Father's Day's of the future will be much happier.

Thanks for the toy, Grandpa Mike!

The many faces of Emmilene...

Jay did get to enjoy his card.

We love you, Grandpa Mike, Grandpa David, Great-Grandpa Jay and Great-Grandpa Max, and especially Daddy Jay!!

Emmi's New Home

Well, it has been a busy last few days for our little Emmilene.  She was introduced to her new home... which she thinks is much bigger than her last one... which if she only knew how small it  really is!

Her daily agenda is very full.  She eats with mom, and  gets burped by dad.

She likes the saying, "Nap well, Nap often".

Since she had to go to the pediatrician right away, she was thrilled to have her first subway ride.  She handled the stroller much better this time.

She even helps dad with his work on the computer.

He returns her hard work with a little spa treatment.

Well, we hope she has decided to stay.  Life is so much more fun with her around!!

The World Welcomes Emmilene

We are pleased to introduce you to Emmilene Elizabeth who made her bold entrance on Friday, June 6, 2008 at 5:26 am.  She weighed in at 8 lbs 8 oz, and stretches out to 20.5 inches.

Here are a few pictures of her first couple days of life.

Proud Papa and our excellent doctor.

First family photo.  All three of us were exhausted, but glad she arrived safe and sound.

Then they took her away, and returned her washed and cleaned.  I think she went to the Nursery Salon on the way back.  A couple of the nurses told us she has "the most hair ever seen on a white baby".

She is very alert for a newborn.  Probably thinking of statistics ... like her father.

First diaper change...life is rough as a newborn!

In all her sonogram pictures, her arms were always up by her face.  This seems to be her favorite way to sleep.

Going home was traumatic... not just for Emmilene, but for her mother who had never seen her calm baby cry so much.

Dad to the rescue!  He has such a calming affect.

The whole experience was the most amazing thing.  This little person comes to you in such a difficult way, but then you love her more than you ever thought possible.  It has been a wonderful couple of days in trying to settle in with our new family.

Thank you for viewing our little miracle.

You can be sure there will be more pictures to come...

The "Event"

The day has come at last.

The date we have been thinking about for the last 7 months.

Nope, no baby yet...but June 5th has finally come.
Before we had revealed to the public we were expecting, Jay put a countdown on our computer entitled, "The Event".  Every time I went to check the weather on our main page, there was the little box with what seemed like a million days left.  The seconds kept counting down.  It used to be so long away....and now all of a sudden, the clock has stopped.   The Event alarm went off this morning.

I guess the countdown stops, although we still wait for The Event...
