We stayed near Florence at this lovely little villa in a town called Tavernelle. From here, we explored Tuscany and Florence for a week. We were surrounded by Olive trees and grape vines, although they are little more than sticks in the ground at this time of year.
Arezzo
You may recognize this square from "Life is Beautiful".
"Maria, the key!"
This our first (but not last) taste of Gelato.
Chianti
Dinner. A Tuscan dinner includes bread without salt, fresh veal, and lots of wine (which our waiter thought we were crazy not to partake of). Another is the Bistecca alla Fiorentina, which is 2.3 lbs of meat-lovers heaven. Here is the before and after shots, although he did have some help enjoying it.
We were in Tavernelle on Easter, and Grandma Salmon made sure the Easter Bunny knew where to find Emmilene.
Siena
San Gimignano. This is a tourist town where the big attraction is the towers built in medieval times. We climbed one for great views.

I can't believe Jay shared that slab of meat . . . THAT is charity :) I will be sure to include one (or two) of those when I go to Italy.
What a lovely place. The whole vacation looks like a lovely place. Great pictures. And what a great big piece of meat. Pretty nearly unbelievable that Jay could eat all of that. Reminds me of the movie The Great Outdoors. Do you remember that one?
Nico would have gone crazy over that piece of meat
